The Vascular International Foundation was founded in Switzerland in July 1996 with the mission to promote future oriented and patient safe vascular medicine through research and high quality education.
We are dedicated to developing and sharing practice oriented, innovative training concepts, supporting young medical professionals and strengthening the infrastructure needed for modern vascular care. This includes operating the Vascular International School, which provides hands on training in open vascular and endovascular techniques for both surgical trainees and experienced professionals. We also support initiatives such as meinezweitmeinung.ch, an online platform that allows patients to obtain a second expert opinion from Switzerland within one to three weeks in English, French or German.
Through these activities, the Foundation works to ensure that the latest knowledge, skills and standards are accessible to medical professionals worldwide, with patient safety always at the forefront.
Donations to the Vascular International Foundation are used to provide hands on training and continuing education, to support internships in international vascular surgery departments and to develop, specify and publish standards in vascular surgery. They also enable us to promote young vascular talent in developing countries through scholarships and training materials, to fund clinical projects and studies and to award prizes for outstanding scientific and clinical achievements in vascular surgery.
